DiRT Rally Road Book – 11/11/16

It’s Road Book time! As usual, here’s the latest DiRTy news and views from Codemasters HQ and beyond. As is the case with recent Road Books, studio stuff is still firmly under wraps – but there’s plenty of other stuff going on too! So here’s a round-up what we have for you today:

Playtest facility

So… The equipment’s ready. The stage is set.

All we need are some testers now. ;) Plus some kebabpizza and the biggest box of tea going, if the DiRTy Gossip Thread’s to be believed…

The TIGA Awards

So, something very exciting happened last night! To our absolute delight, DiRT Rally won the incredible accolade of ‘Best Racing Game’. We’re absolutely thrilled with the win, and can’t thank TIGA and the voters enough for the award. We’ve even got a special message from our CEO Frank Sagnier on the win:

“Winning Best Racing Game at the TIGA awards is a great honour and speaks volumes for the hard work and dedication of everybody at Codemasters. It also recognises the support and passion of the fantastic DiRT Rally community who championed the game through Steam Early Access all the way through to the full release on PC and then console. It is a fantastic achievement.”

And, he’s right. We couldn’t have done it without you, so cheers! This one’s for you.

Goodbye to VW – Steelbook competition

At the start of the month came the shock announcement that Volkswagen are pulling out of the WRC at the end of this championship. After an absolutely dominant run with the Polo WRC – a run which saw them clock up 42 individual rally wins across four seasons – Rally Australia will mark the end of their reign in the WRC.

Of course, the Polo was the star on the front of our packaging – so to celebrate their success and give them a fond farewell from the top flight of rally, we’d like to host a little competition! We have 5 DiRT Rally Steelbooks up for grabs – and all you need to do to win one is send us your favourite screenshot featuring the Polo itself. That’s any stage, any angle – but somehow, it has to feature the Polo. You have until Thursday 24th November 2016 to get your entries in, and you can submit your efforts through any of our official channels (or via dirtgame@codemasters.com if you’re not the biggest fan of social media).

Those who’ve submitted eligible screenshots will be entered into a draw, and 5 winners will be picked at random! It’s a global competition too, so feel free to enter regardless of where you’re based. The winners will be announced in the next Road Book. :)

DiRT 3 – get it while it’s hot!

If you’ve missed the fact that DiRT 3 trended on Facebook and Twitter last night, then don’t worry – we’re here to tell you why! The guys over at Humble Bundle and the Humble Bundle Store are celebrating their third birthday this week, and as part of the celebrations they’re giving away DiRT 3 Complete Edition away for free on PC. The offer expires in a day or so, so quickly head over to their website now to take advantage of the offer.

Not a Steam player, however? No problem. DiRT 3 is also free on PS3 with PS Plus this month (and available to stream for those of you with PlayStation Now on PS4), and there’s 75% off DiRT 3 on the Xbox Store too! Don’t forget, Xbox wheels now work with back-compatible titles – so you can play this on your Xbox One too! RESULT.

F1 2016 Mobile

You know how we here at Codemasters make that other game with slightly pointier cars? Well, we’ve made a similar game with pointy cars for mobile! F1 2016 Mobile launched yesterday – and just in case you’re into pocket-sized motorsport, here’s a quick trailer to get you excited…

Youtuber Super GT’s back on playing DiRT Rally! Watch him crack on with the Subaru Impreza in Kreuzsungsring in Germany – it’s worth watching for him just trying to pronounce the stage name. ;)
