As today is International Women’s Day, we thought we’d celebrate the fantastic women that work here at Codemasters by getting to know them! We sat down with Game Designer Amanda Carrington to talk about how she got into the games industry.
Hi Amanda! Could you tell us what you do here at Codemasters?
I work as a Game Designer at Codemasters’ Cheshire studio
How long have you been here at Codemasters?
I’ve been at Codemasters for about 6 months
How long have you been in the industry for?
Codemasters is the 2nd video game company I’ve worked in. Previously I worked at a small company that did digital versions of physical boardgames – which was a bit of a double whammy for me as I play both video games and board games!
How did you get into your career?
I’d previously been working at Sainsburys, but had really wanted to get into video games, this led to a lot of internet research and worked on small personal project. This combined with being in the right place at the right time has led me to where I am now.
What advice do you have for women trying to get into the industry?
Be persistent! Half the challenge is to keep going when everything around you is telling you to stop.
