The Codies League Championship – GP 2 Results

Last week the Codies League Championship headed to the Circuit de Catalunya for the second race of the Xbox 360 season. The race was action packed from start to finish thanks to some incredible racing and a touch of dynamic weather. The session started off clear but with a 50% chance of rain everyone was preparing for a battle in the wet. Lap 22 saw the first few patches of rain and it wasn’t long after that the intermediates started to appear. Five laps later and full wets were a must. The race finished in heavy rain with an AOR one-two.
If you missed the Twitch stream feel free to check out some of the race footage from Noble 2909, o Velxcity and Sam F1LFC.
So let’s get down to the results. Noble 2909 secured his second win in a row with a flawless race starting from 2nd on the grid. X Matty G secured the AOR one-two from starting in 4th. TRL Limitless once again finished in 3rd securing TRL’s only points of the day. IFR’s Cydonian Paul had a brilliant race moving up the grid from 9th to 4th and securing 12 points. Dramatic Naven also had a strong performance gaining 6 places and finishing in 5th. 6th place went to BallingerBoy earning 8 points for IFR. The Pinnacle drivers Sam F1LFC and RTAY94 earned 7th and 8th place respectively. UTR Two finished in 9th with teammate UTR 1 following closely behind in 10th. Sadly XRL Fearless, TRL Rosberg, o Vlexcity and Rlstrm all retired with connection issues.
Here’s what some of the leagues had to say after the race.
Rlstrm (VRL) – “I had good race pace even with a slower setup that I was automatically put on when re-joining the lobby. I was making my way through the field quite nicely even though the tyres were wearing quite a bit and I really believed I was on for a high finish. I just got unlucky with the disconnection.”
Dramatic Naven (VRL) – “A very tough race, a lot of surprises and the rain kept things interesting. I was amazed to get 5th at one of my worst tracks.”
Phibes (VRL Admin) – “We had mixed emotions for our two drivers. New driver, rlstrm, has sensational pace around Spain with a time trial effort inside the top 20 on the Xbox 360 platform, but unfortunately for him he experienced some connection issues and was disconnected from the race. Before that though he was running very well. For Dramatic Naven meanwhile, he had a rather hectic race which ended up with a fantastic 5th place finish. A very pleasing result for Vortex Racing Leagues.
Peter Carr (IFR Admin) – “Both of our drivers have performed superbly so far and to be in third at this stage is excellent. We got a bit of luck with disconnections on Wednesday but CydonianPaul drove really well and BallingerBoy was unlucky not to have finished higher up. Our aim for Spa will be to extend our lead over the leagues behind us.”
Fisi (AOR Admin) – “We’re obviously very pleased with how the race went in Spain, especially considering how strong TRL looked in qualifying! Noble took the lead straight away into turn one and showed great consistent pace, while Matty made some great strategy calls to get him into 2nd. I believe TRL ran into some pit-stop problems which is a shame as I’d always prefer to win races fair and square without any unfortunate issues kicking in, but I can’t complain about my drivers’ performance, and this one-two finish gives us a nice gap at the top of the championship going into the remaining races!”
So what does this mean for the Championship standings? The top 3 leagues remain in the same position with AOR extending their gap between TRL by 30 points. Vortex Racing Leagues move up 1 place ahead of Pinnacle who move up 2 places after their strong GP 2 performance. Xcite Racing League drops 2 positions to 6th while Ultimate Throttle Racing drops 1 place to 7th.
This week we’re off to the famous Circuit de Spa Francorchamps where we’re expecting another action packed race. Make sure to tune into our Twitch channel at 8 PM GMT 2/4/14 to watch it live!
