Previewing F1® Mobile Racing With Chris: Our Mobile Community Manager

Greetings! Chris here, the new Mobile Community Manager at Codemasters. Bit hot out there, isn’t it?

It’s a little weird writing this post to be honest, because I’m used to being in the position of reading them on the Codies blog and Forum instead. Video games have been a passion all my life, and Codemasters titles have dominated my game libraries more and more over the years. I dread to think how many hours I’ve put into Career modes in F1 games, throwing shapes around Battersea Power Station in DiRT 3, or just anything in the GRID series, to name just a few.

A little bit about myself: I’m 24 years old and based in Nottingham, after moving up from Plymouth earlier this year, where I’d lived all my life. It’s a beautiful place in the summer! I also went to university there and studied sports journalism in 2016, graduating with a first before heading into a marketing/editorial role for a couple of years. I spent some time during university in the games journalism world, writing news posts, editorials and reviews. I’m also far too obsessed with football (Plymouth Argyle and Liverpool share my heart) and tend to do some freelance sports journalism stuff on weekends.

I enjoyed the marketing role, but when the opportunity arose to join the Codies family, I couldn’t pass it up… and now we’re here! It might mean driving for three hours a day to get to work, but it’s worth it. There are some pretty sweet bends on my route as well…

Having played video games so much for so long, I’m super passionate about ensuring all of us gamers get the best experience possible from the medium we love so much. That requires a line of honest communication between players and creators, so I’m determined to talk to our community as much as possible. I’ll be taking in your feedback, understanding what you’re loving and what you want tweaking, and bringing you all the vital news, information and content you want to see. Oh, and puns. Lots of puns.

Getting Into Gear

Primarily, I’ll be working on F1® Mobile Racing – our latest foray into the mobile gaming world, and our first ever into the F2P industry. After playing some previews and knowing the outstanding talent of the team behind this game, I can give you an exclusive: you guys are in for a treat! The game will be familiar to both F1 fans and free-to-play mobile gamers, but also offering some completely new features that’ll blow. Your. Mind.*
