Our New Wheels

Welcome to the new look Codies Blog! Over the last few weeks we have been busy putting together what we think is a great-looking, easy to use blog that brings all of the content you want to read under one bonnet.
The aim with the new Codies Blog is to bring all of that cool stuff together in one place
We’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about how we want to interact with you all and most importantly, what sort of content you want to read. The aim with the new Codies Blog is to bring all of that cool stuff together in one place so if you don’t happen to be a user of a particular social network or a member of the forums you won’t miss out on what we are up to. All our content will still appear on our regular channels but the blog offers us that home on the internet, that one place where everything Codemasters lives.
The most important change we want to make though comes with the tone we want to set; we want to be much more honest and open about what we are doing as a company, we want to get to know you guys better and in turn we want to share our love for gaming and motorsport with you all. We also want to give you a more behind the scenes look at Codemasters, our studios are full of talented and interesting people. We’ve got rally drivers, paper craft creators and of course a magnitude of very talented game developers, each with interesting and unique stories to tell. Expect to start hearing a lot more from all of us in the future.
If you take a look around the blog you’ll see that we’ve categorised all the content into easy to find sections, which will hopefully make your experience much better. For example, if you’re an F1 fan and only want to see content based on those games, simply hit the “F1” link at the top of the page. You’ll find things like screenshot galleries, videos, interviews and insights into the development process for our titles.
Community posts will be for the more light-hearted content and we’ll host regular features such as Tweet of The Week, Ask Codemasters and other posts showcasing awesome content created by our community. Once the new-look forums are up and running we’ll also be taking the best discussions and highlighting them for all to see.
Speaking of the forums, we wanted to give you a quick update. They’re currently being built and wired into our RaceNet account system which will mean that you’ll only ever need one single account for all of our community websites. The new forums will be going live in the New Year and once we have a date set for launch we’ll be sure to let you know. The forums will also integrate into the blog and as soon as they go live you’ll be able to comment on our blog posts using the same account, making it very easy to join in the discussion.
One of the questions we get asked on an almost daily basis is “do you have any jobs going?” As such we’ll also be highlighting the career opportunities here at Codemasters so if you happen to be in the industry already, suffering a quarter-life crisis, simply looking for a change or itching to break your way into the video game industry, be sure to check our Careers section of the site frequently.
So, what next? Well, over the coming weeks we’ll focusing on producing lots of new and interesting things for you to read, watch and talk about on the blog. We’ll be paying close attention to what you like, what you dislike and more importantly we’ll be reading all the feedback from yourselves on the sort of content that you’d like to see.
…new game reveals, we’ll be saying “hello” to some old friends and we’ll be hosting our second Codemasters Game Jam, (more on that very soon).
We’re really looking forward to the next couple of months, it’s an exciting time for us and as we move into 2014 we’ll have some important announcements to make; new game reveals, we’ll be saying “hello” to some old friends and we’ll be hosting our second Codemasters Game Jam, (more on that later today).
For now though take a look around and be sure to let us know on Twitter and Facebook what you think of our new wheels.
