DiRT Rally Road Book – 19/02/16

Hello! It’s Friday, which of course means it’s time for another DiRT Rally Road Book entry. It’s been a busy week or two here in the Codies office – @Kick_Up, @Hatward and the rest of the guys in the studio have been working like crazy with interviews and submissions, and we’ve been spending lots of time working with licensing so we have an impressive collection of assets to show off to you before the new content launches in April. We can’t wait to show them to you, because, seriously – they’re pretty impressive.

FIA World Rallycross Championship news and announcements

As the season opener at Montalegre RX approaches, Rallycross news is coming thick and fast. A few weeks ago Ken Block and Andreas Bakkerud announced their Hoonigan Racing partnership, and this week, WRX Team Austria have announced their WRX line-up! Timur Timerzyanov and Janis Baumanis will be joining WRX Team Austria as they contend for the World Rallycross Championship title. Baumanis joins fresh from winning last year’s S1600 Championship, and two-time Euro RX winner Timerzyanov has left OMSE to join the white and red outfit. With several of the drivers line-up remaining unconfirmed, it’s safe to say we’re looking forward to seeing what the 2016 season has under the bonnet. In fact, we’re so excited about the season starting in April, we might feel a giveaway coming on…

Launch updates: T-minus 45 days and counting

As we mentioned last week, we’ve busy working on the community video – but we’ve also been busy working on some other awesome video goodies in the run-up to the console launch. We can’t say too much about it – but stay tuned at the start of next week for some brand new (and super-interesting) footage…

Hi everyone! This week’s update from the studio is not really from the studio as I thought it would be cool to talk a bit about some of the stuff I have been doing around Europe over the past couple of weeks. While we had a number of the press visit us here in Warwickshire there were a few territories who couldn’t make it to the UK so it was important to take the game out and show it to them in the same detail that the guys from the UK, Netherlands, France and Italy got when they came here.

It is always great fun being able to demo and talk about the game to people who have not had the opportunity to get hands on before. First stop was Germany where I did some filming at GameStar TV and a live stream followed by a day of chatting to games and motoring media at the Koch Media head office just outside Munich. I then jumped on a plane and went straight to Stockholm where I spent the next day talking to the press there. This week I flew out to Madrid and did much the same thing with about 15 members of the Spanish gaming press. Everyone has been seriously impressed with how good the game looks and how smoothly it runs on console. 60 fps has been one of the most important things for us and despite the demo version that we were showing being some 3-4 weeks old, everyone who played the game was blow away by how rock solid it was. We are now starting to see some of the articles coming through and the overall response has been incredible and it is filling the studio with a huge amount of positivity as we move ever closer to release on the 5th of April.
