The Volkswagen R DiRT World Championships – the quarter-finals are almost here!
Six qualifying rounds. Over 20,000 entries. And now, we’re down to the fastest 36. We’re so ready to get going with our quarter-finals this weekend, and we hope our 36 quickest drivers are too. It’s been a thrilling six rounds, with only milliseconds separating the top times – which all points to the wheel-to-wheel racing this weekend being phenomenally close. The final kicks off at 17:00 BST on Sunday 8th April, so set your alarms now!
The eagle-eyed amongst you may’ve also noticed that we’ve renamed the eSports series – and that’s because we’re overwhelmingly proud to announce we’re partnering with Volkswagen R and Volkswagen Motorsport for our live shows. We can’t discuss in too much detail what this partnership will bring to the finale – that’s all under wraps for now – but, well… It’s very, very cool. You’ll have to trust us on this one – all will be revealed soon!
And while we’re on the topic of cool things, we have another prize to announce. We’re delighted to say that we’re teaming with the folks at Acer on an incredible prize for the overall winner of the Volkswagen R DiRT World Championships: a Predator Orion 9000.
Yup, that’s right – this absolute beast of a gaming PC is up for grabs to the winner of the inaugural DiRT eSports series! The Predator Orion 9000 takes smaller PCs and eats them for breakfast – so whatever the lucky winner has planned with it, it’ll be ready.
Don’t forget, the winner will also get a test drive in an RX2 car around Silverstone, plus a Playseat and Thrustmaster peripherals – so there’s a significant stake at play! It’s all to race for.
The Quarter Finals
And now we know what they’re racing for, we should talk about when our competitors will be racing! The Quarter Final kicks off at 17:00 BST, and you’ll be able to watch the action unfold live from the Gfinity Arena on our Twitch channel and on motorsport.tv.
If you missed the announcement earlier this week on who’s commentating, then let us recap for you – FIA World Rallycross Championship commentator, presenter and legend Andrew Coley will be taking you through the racing alongside Actrollvision Community Racing’s Luke Crane. We’re delighted to have such a dynamic, knowledgeable duo on board – especially because both of them have a reputation for being excitable!
Finally: if you’re itching to know who qualified when, then the wait is over – here is your roster of qualifiers throughout the rounds. Pick your horse to get behind – and we’ll see you live on Sunday!
