The DiRT Roadbook – August 14, 2019

August 14, 2019

Hello everyone, and welcome to an early DiRT Roadbook this week!

First off, I know it’s not Friday. I’m away for the next few days but before heading off I wanted to give you all your regular roundup and touch base on a few hot topics within the community, so let’s get to it!

Estering, Germany: Available now in DiRT Rally 2.0

Let’s kick off with Estering, which released yesterday. The German Rallycross location has everything you could want from a circuit, high speed straights, tight hairpins and challenging corner sequences. On Monday we had another show over on YouTube, where Ross Gowing (DiRT Rally 2.0’s Game Director) gave some great insight into how Estering was built. We also had footage of the course in action, with Jon Armstrong’s solid driving behind the wheel as usual.

I enjoyed hanging out with you all in the live chat for the Premiere, answering your questions and generally being around people who are interested in the game and the location. If you missed any of the show it’s all on our YouTube now (embedded above), so have a look.

A quick note for PlayStation and Xbox users, we saw yesterday that Deluxe Content players weren’t getting Estering as part of their entitlements, which is appearing that it needed to be purchased separately.

We’ve been in communication with our partners to resolve these issues and as I write this (Wednesday afternoon) PlayStation should now be resolved in all regions. Xbox players, this is taking a little while longer but we’re working to get everything restored as soon as possible.

This weekend: Euro RX of Germany

This weekend the Estering circuit plays host to the Euro RX competitors. After dozens of laps in DiRT Rally 2.0 what better way to spend your time than by watching how the real-life drivers take it on? Tickets are still available for the event if you’re around the area and even if you can’t make it, there’s always that World RX overtake to watch on YouTube, again and again!

Seasons 3 & 4 of DiRT Rally 2.0 are on the way!

On Monday we announced Seasons 3 and 4 of DiRT Rally 2.0, told you August was going to be a big month!

I’ve been excited about these ever since joining Codemasters 2 months ago and it’s great to finally share the news with you all, and see fans happy about continued support for the game.

The storefronts on the various platforms are currently being updated to include this new content, so if you don’t see a place to pre-order yet don’t worry; it’ll come soon. As for Oculus things function a little differently; DiRT Rally 2.0‘s post-release content will come to the platform at a later date, more info on that when the time comes.

In the meantime here’s a few more screens of Greece and Finland, since I know a few fans wanted wallpaper material!

VR Feedback & Performance Guide

VR support for DiRT Rally 2.0 released last week, giving players the most immersive rallying experience possible. I’ve already seen some solid videos of people playing and having fun with VR (Jimmy Broadbent above and Eurogamer come to mind) but we’re well aware that the experience has been different for many people, particularly on Steam.

The DiRT team’s been checking in on all your feedback ever since release and put together a Performance FAQ with suggested settings and changes to help improve your experience. As always we want to know your thoughts, so drop feedback in the threads below:

We’ve also got a short guide here for non-VR Steam users who were experiencing stutter and general FPS issues.

As mentioned in last week’s Roadbook the team’s continuing to monitor feedback and investigate ways to improve PC performance for all players. Once we’re closer to making improvements (whether it be a hotfix or a timeline for a future update) we’ll share more info. We’re also looking at some quality of life improvements for our next few updates; again we’ll share more info once they’re closer to completion.

DiRT Sale on Steam

Looking for a good deal on DiRT Rally 2.0? We’ve got discounts running on the game and various DLC content for the next week or so, so head to the link below and have a look around.

Xbox and PS4 users, we had sales on your platforms recently. Keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook (both @dirtgame) for future deals.

That’s it from me this week, have fun everyone!
