F1 2016: RELEASE DATE AND FIRST GAMEPLAY TRAILER

Great news – today we’re delighted to announce when you’ll be able to get your hands on F1 2016, the official videogame of the 2016 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™! It’s time to put the date in your diary and book some time off, as F1 2016 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Windows PC (DVD) on Friday 19th August 2016 – perfect for a nice long weekend of gaming.

Not only this, but we’re thrilled to show you the first gameplay video for F1 2016: a spectacular showcase of the new Baku street circuit, which will host the 2016 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX OF EUROPE this weekend. It’s not being demonstrated by any old players, either – you’re getting introduced to the track by true professionals. And by true professionals, we mean both Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo, and Renault Sport Formula One™ driver Jolyon Palmer!

The video shows the two F1 drivers getting to grips with the new circuit, giving their impressions on the track and its challenges as they go. The historic city centre, beautiful seaside promenade and impressive architecture all combine to provide the perfect backdrop to the new track – and it’s quite a spectacular contrast to see cars at the forefront of racing technology throwing themselves around a track enclosed by such a combination of history and 21st Century style.

After a lap or two of the new circuit on F1 2016, Daniel commented: “I can’t think of anything like Baku… For the corners it looks like you want to have maximum downforce, but I don’t think you can afford to run it because of the long straight. I think we will have to sacrifice some grip in the corners to keep up on the straight.”

Talking about Baku’s soon-to-be famous Turn 5, Jolyon Palmer added: “There’s some crazy corners and maybe the craziest there is in FORMULA ONE        , with the up-the-hill left and then straight into a blind right hander… It’s going to be easy to hit a wall. It’s very high speed. The challenge is huge!” Jolyon also said that practising on the new circuit in the new F1 2016 videogame ahead of the race makes him feel as though he understands the  circuit “…probably more than most others, maybe everyone in the field so, it’s going to give me a little advantage.”
With all this talk of sacrificing grip for straight-line speed, crazy corners, and huge challenges, Baku has an impressive collection of ingredients – and it’s all shaping up to be an especially tasty weekend of Formula 1 at the upcoming European Grand Prix.

We’re not just stopping there with the sharing, though. We’re extraordinarily excited to finally be able to discuss the F1 2016 Limited Edition version, which is now available for pre-order!

The Limited Edition will include the F1™ 2016 ‘CAREER BOOSTER’ DLC PACK, which will give players a head start in pursuing their F1 career. It also gives the player a ‘Research and Development boost’ that applies a percentage increase to all research and development credits earned by the player in each session in the new career mode. Not just this, but exclusive Career Helmet and Laptop designs are also included within the edition too.

Don’t forget, F1 2016 will feature the most in-depth career mode ever seen in the series, in addition to the Safety Car and Virtual Safety car, a time-of-day editor, team hospitality areas, plus plenty of other features which we’ll be unveiling over the coming weeks. As always, you’ll hear it here first – so make sure you follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep yourself up-to-speed with our announcements.

Finally, we must give a massive thank you to those who have participated in the recent F1 2016 Closed Beta. The commitment you’ve shown and the feedback you’ve provided has been completely invaluable, and we’re looking forward to applying that feedback to the final game.
