Rising Through the Ranks – Focusing on the Path to Formula 1®

Having recently updated F1® 2019, the official videogame, with the F2™ 2019 season (and if you missed that, you can read more in our patch notes right here), today we’re releasing the final video in a series surrounding the FIA Formula 2 Championship™. The last video focuses on the path to F1®, highlighting the drivers, both past and present, who have risen through the ranks of F2™ and features contributions from Alex Albon, George Russell, Lando Norris who themselves have come from F2™ to F1®, alongside the likes of F2™ experts, Davide Valsecchi and Alex Jacques and F2™ CEO, Bruno Michel.

F2™ commentator Alex Jacques details just how many recognisable names have made it through F2™: “A lot of the drivers that have made their way through, have made their way through F2.” Jacques goes on to say that “You’ve had Hamilton, Rosberg, Hulkenberg, Glock, Gasly, Giovinazzi, Leclerc and now Russell. These are the drivers who are comprising the sharp end of the grid.”

Telling the story of Hamilton racing at Istanbul, Jacques and Michel detail how Hamilton set up his car against the advice of his team, spun at the beginning of the race and in a dramatic race climax charged back through the field to claim a place on the podium.
