Codies Racing Line – June 13, 2019

June 13, 2019

In case you hadn’t guessed, things are pretty busy around the Codemasters offices right now! With that in mind, now seemed like the perfect time to add a new way for you, the Codies community, to keep up with everything we’re working on.

Every fortnight (no, not that one), head over to the Codies Blog for the Paddock Pass. Here, we’ll be rounding up the news, the announcements, and all the cool stuff surrounding Codemasters’ active games. Updates on anything else of note that we’re getting up to will also be included – all delivered with panache and a questionable sense of humour.

Let’s kick things off with our esteemed Community Manager Jenny, to give us an update on all things F1 2019 – fresh off an extremely quiet and uneventful Canadian Grand Prix…

F1 2019

Hello! It’s F1 2019 launch month and we are so excited! It’s been a very busy week this week, with Game Director Lee Mather out at E3, showing F1 2019 off to the press.

He also featured Twitch’s E3 broadcast on the Sunday evening, which you can watch right here:

Watch Twitch @ E3 Day 1 | Xbox, Bethesda, Devolver, and more from Twitch on

Outside of E3, we’ve been answering your most frequently asked questions on our blog, as well as revealing the compatible wheel and controller lists as well. Still not sure if you’re ready for launch in a couple of weeks? Our F1 2019 livestream last week gives you a sneak peek of what to expect. Phew! After all of that, relax, make sure you’ve got your pre-order sorted, and get ready to jump into the action yourself later this month.

Following the huge Update 5 in April, which added 2019 season content, a multi-setup feature and much more, the F1® Mobile Racing team has been focused on refinements and community-driven tweaks to further improve the experience for all.

Over the past few weeks, adjustments to gameplay, modes, display, and elements under the hood have been made, with the latest patch rolling out just last week. It’s an interesting and ever-changing venture to be working on a free-to-play mobile game, but our team are doing some amazing work to keep up with your feedback!

That certainly doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about new content to get your teeth into. I can confirm that Update 6 is just around the corner – and as well as more improvements, we’re adding more features and more rewards for fast, fair racing.

Oh, and we’re also delighted to quietly toot our own horn and confirm that F1® Mobile Racing is up for the Best Mobile Game for this year’s Develop:Star Awards! Huge congrats to all the other nominees, and we’ll see you at the tuxedo rental store.

Keep an eye on our social channels for more news on what’s coming in Update 6, as well as our usual gameplay videos, community highlights and competitions. We’re out now on iOS and Android, so see you on the track!

Hello everyone!

First off, allow me to introduce myself. I’m PJ, and I recently joined Codemasters as the Social Media Manager for DiRT games. If you want to know more I’ve got an intro thread up on the Forums but let’s get on to what’s been happening off-road.

Things have been busy recently as season 2 of DiRT Rally 2.0 is now underway. We kicked off with the savage Group B Rallycross cars and next week the Latvian Rallycross circuit is also coming to the game. In between all of that we launched Clubs!

Clubs are a way for players to create their own Championships and communities in-game, giving them more ways to play. If you want to take on the wider community and some of the Codemasters staff we’ve got 2 official Clubs set up, for Standard and Hardcore players.

I’m still settling in here at Codemasters but it’s been fun to get involved with the community in a more official capacity (some of you may remember me as a player), keeping you all informed and entertained about all things DiRT. Like any rally course there are some bumps along the way but it’s a fun ride. Keep an eye out on the Codemasters blog and forum for future updates as I’ve been quite active over there recently ;)

So… yeah. We announced a thing last month:

It’s fantastic to be able to talk about the return of GRID, which has been in super-secret development at Codemasters for a while now. A reboot of a storied racing franchise, but a fresh take with innovations and features, GRID is all about the thrill of the race, wherever and however you choose to get behind the wheel come launch in September.

We’re also stoked to be partnering with Google Stadia, launching on the brand new gaming platform in the near future, as well as Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (pre-orders are starting to go live, by the way). GRID Game Director Chris Smith is over in Los Angeles for E3 right now, speaking to media about that Stadia partnership and showing journos around a work-in-progress build of the game.

Car classes and first multiplayer details have been recently unveiled on the GRID social channels, so bookmark those for more game info as it drops. Join us over in the Codemasters Forums as well, where the GRID channels are getting just a little bit hyped about this one, reminiscing on GRID memories and mapping out wishlists for its return.
