Codies Racing Line – July 25, 2019

Nobody could blame you if you’ve had a little trouble keeping up with all the big Codemasters news over the last two weeks. A huge esports event, a trip to see a motor racing legend, brand new content, big reveals; all that and more has hit the headlines over the last fortnight. Yeesh…
But never fear! The Codies Racing Line is here to wrap up all that news and deliver it in an easy-to-consume format. Sound good? We thought so too. Let’s get started…
F1 2019
Hey,
Strap yourselves in – the past two weeks have been quite a ride! Let’s kick off with a competition, shall we? Fancy winning a signed Renault F1 Team t-shirt? Then we have the competition for you – and you can find out more with F1 2019’s Photo Mode right here!
You’ve got until noon BST, 26th July 2019, so make sure you get your entries in to us soon!
Earlier this week, we released patch 1.06 on PC and PS4, with Xbox One coming very soon. You can catch up on the patch notes here and join in with our patch discussion thread here. We’re continuing to listen to everything you’re telling us, and you can find our wider F1 2019 update details, about what we’re looking to add in the future, here.
That’s not all that’s been happening, though! Last week, and for the first time, all the 10 official F1 Esports teams came to the Gfinity Arena to pick who is going to drive for them from the Pro Draft! If you missed it, you missed out on an incredible night of picks, but luckily for you, you can read about who was picked here, or watch it as it happened here.
The Pro Series begins on the 11th September, and we can’t wait to see all the F1 Esports action! Were you watching the Pro Draft thinking that you want to be there too? Now’s your chance – the first qualification event is now OPEN in F1 2019. All you need to do is register at f1esports.com, head to the ‘F1 Esports’ tab in F1 2019, and set your score on the latest event! Good luck!
Last, but definitely not least, it’s the German Grand Prix this week – and to celebrate, we have some brand new screenshots to show you. Take a sneaky peek below!

GRID
There’s only one place to start: We flew out to Oviedo to catch up with a member of the GRID team: our Race Consultant, Fernando Alonso. You may’ve heard of him?
We met the double F1 World Champion and Le Mans winner at his own museum to chat about his involvement with the game, and how his racing experiences and love for motorsport are represented to the fullest in GRID.
British racing star, current W Series leader and fellow FA Racing team member Jamie Chadwick also joined us in Spain. Jamie took GRID for a spin herself and gave her thoughts on how the game is capturing the thrill, action and drama of motor racing that she loves. All in all: a pretty decent trip. Both Alonso and Chadwick are in GRID as AI opponents – and look out for some new game footage very soon that shows Alonso leading by example in the game.
We were full speed ahead after Oviedo, giving you an extensive look into GRID’s brand new Career mode. With over 100 events on launch, six major Showdown events to conquer, and the star-studded GRID World Series at the end of it all, this is a Career #LikeNoOther. We can’t wait to see what you think of it when GRID launches this October on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and also coming soon to Google Stadia.

DiRT RALLY 2.0
Hey everyone!
As always, it’s been a busy time in the world of DiRT, with the highlight being the addition of Wales Rally to DiRT Rally 2.0.
A special location requires special treatment, so we did things a little differently this time round, giving you all an early look at the location via our “Welcome to Wales” show on YouTube. Myself and Jon Armstrong took to the sofa, drove through a Stage and had a lot of fun along the way; it was also great to hang out with plenty of you in the live chat during the Premiere too. A few days later, we put up some high-level gameplay as Jon gave it everything through both of the main Stages: River Severn Valley and Sweet Lamb. I’m still struggling to figure out how he’s so quick.
I leave you now with a teaser of our upcoming DLC release, as 2 more Group B RX cars are on the way. More info on those soon.

F1® MOBILE RACING
The secret is out! F1® Mobile Racing is going #NextLevel with Update 7, set to launch in the coming days.
We announced the news earlier this week on the Codies Blog, revealing upgrades to a host of features and modes. Elite Leagues in Duel mode offers a new challenge to the game’s greatest players, whilst the R&D system introduces Legendary parts, which provide major boosts to car performance. Update 7 is being finalised right now, so keep it with our social channels to see when you can go to the #NextLevel with F1® Mobile Racing.
Before that: with the British Grand Prix taking place just down the road from Codies HQ, we couldn’t miss out on the chance to head to Silverstone and meet some familiar faces! Amongst our paddock meetings on the Friday, we stopped by the Williams motorhome to catch up with George Russell, and let him put F1® Mobile Racing through its paces…

ANY OTHER BUSINESS?
– You’ll probably catch us waxing lyrical about our in-house professional rally driver Jon Armstrong in most Racing Line updates, but trust us: he’s worth shouting about! This past weekend, Jon took part in the Down Rally in Northern Ireland, racing a Mini WRC (sporting a DiRT Rally 2.0 livery, no less). Yep, you guessed it: Jon won the whole thing! Congrats to Jon and co-driver Noel O Sullivan – we’re still waiting to see that trophy ?
– Don’t forget to check out our list of current vacancies, where there are plenty of new positions we’re taking applications for. Codemasters is constantly on the lookout for talent from across the globe to be a part our friendly and driven team. Come join us!
– Sales time: Got an Xbox Live Gold account? DiRT Rally and DiRT 4 are both 80% off in the current Deals With Gold, whilst F1 2019 is 30% off in the current PlayStation EU Summer Sale. Get ’em while they’re hot!
